oil temp guage starts in the middle. How can I tell if it runs hot or If i just need the guage set properly. If its just the guage how do I go about fixing that?

the guage has a sending unit on the engine. generally they are cheap and easy to change. if it doesn't bother you, just throw one on it. if the problem persists, it could be a thermostat, or a radiator cap, or bubbles flying around in the system, or low coolant..lots of possible problems. need more symptoms.How 2 get of rid of spilt oil in boot of car?

First you have to establish that the sending unit is working properly. Measure the resistance using a VOM. If its just the guage that is not working properly its not a big deal. Bear in mind that with todays alloy engines they do not take well to overheating. In many cases if the engine actually overheats its easy to blow a head gasket, warp a head and create a host of other problems that you really do not want. With a vehical that age it would easily cost more to repair the results of overheating than the vehical is worth.What do i do about the rust that has appeared on our 4 yr old car?
