Rats have chewed through my cruise control wires. Should I sell my car in case of other damage?

I killed one rat and set bait out. How many times can this damage occur before I sell my car?

here is what we do at the los alamos labs when the squirrels chew wires
get a bottle of simple grees at the auto store near you
spray all over onder the hood especially the wiring
next get a mesh bag or old nylons and put moth balls in them. put one bag on each side of the engine under the hood
