Question:
My truck broke down about 2 weeks ago... after a while of trying to figure out what it was i finally figured out the distributor was shot, i headed up to the junk yard and got one. Not a bad fix for $20, it runs better then it has in 5 or 6 years. that thing must have been going bad since then and it just finally died. Well anyways i went to check the oil and got the good old gas smell on the dipstick. The oil was only about 1500 miles old but i decided to change it anyways, went to walmart got oil and filter and decided i should change it that night because i had to drive in the morning and didnt want to risk spinning the bearing. well it was getting dark and i was in such a hurry that i pulled the plug drained the oil put the plug back in and put 5 new quarts in, when i finished i relized I AM AN IDIOT I FORGOT THE FILTER, so its got the same filter in it, i was just wondering if it would be ok to leave the old on in there, i change my oil ever 3000 so yah. any ideas?

Has anyone here ever had any muffler work done by Lou's Custom Exhaust?
yes it will be OK for this one instance. Sounds like you need to get a carburetor rebuild or tune or possibly the plugs or wires are getting bad and it is not firing and allowing too much fuel to dump in the crankcase. It is not good to have gas in the oil so I would get the problem fixed asap and then do a complete oil and filter again. No, It is not ok. Leaving the old filter on will just get the new oil dirty again right after it passes through it. So you have to change the filter every time you change the oil.
How do you set the timming on a 1990 chevy tbi engine?
Sorry
Do you feel the difference with a 5-12hp increase in your car?
The answer to the question would obviously be no! The real answer is it won't matter until you fix the carburation problem because gasoline is running into your oil system! It either needs a carb or throttle body ( not sure which you have) rebuild to fix the REAL problem!I have a 1998 windstar van. It has a loud nocking in the engine.?
No, you are going to have to change your oil again, and remember the filter this time. Gas thins out oil, even in small doses, and is very harmful to bearings. If you are getting gas in your oil, your engine has severe issues. There are several ways fuel can get into the oil, head gasket, worn rings, etc. Have a reputable mechanic check it out, but I am betting you are in for an engine change/rebuild.More Questions & Answers ...
