Today nearly every car on the road sees what they used to refer to as police and taxi type use ... i.e. almost always on the go lots of stopa and go driving etc.
hence the recommended oil & filter change for an auto trans is every 15,000 miles ... also do not forget if it has bands in it they need checked for their adjustment because they do wear some and need serviced at this same time
If "timing belts" are so problematic, why not go back to chains?

P,S. Stay away from those advertised trans flushes they do not replace/change the filter... they back wash that nasty fluid tru the trans and filter it a little and put it back...
but most of the dirt lurks in the bottom of pan only to be sucked right back into filter later and possibly can clog it
