What kind of car do you have? Regular service and delicate driving will extend the life of any mechanical part. I would say a reasonable life expectancy of 150000-200000 would be realistic.

Reprogramming keyless entry on a 91 Lincoln Town Car?

There is no set general life for an automatic transmission. Driving slow does not help. The transmission would just be in use longer for the miles driven. Heat is a transmissions #1 enemy along with lack of maintenance. Most newer transmissions have to long of a service interval between fluid changes. If the fluid is not synthetic, I recommend changing it at least at the time of every 3rd engine oil change along with the filter. Good luck!

How do you remove the starter bolts for a 1996 mustang Gt, any pics or diagrams would be much appreciated...?

The life of an automatic transmission is never foretold nor should be guaranteed for longer than 5 years. You want to know the only way that you can actually take care of your transmission, you have to drive that car with caution. Drive that car like a lowrider slow but for sure. Secondly yes driving slow and taking care of your transmission does help prolong the life of your transmission.

1992 Honda Accord LX owners manual? help .?

Driving slow (keeping the rpm's low) prolongs the life of the engine, but not the transmission. A well-designed and engineered auto transmission mated to an appropriate engine should last at least 200,000 miles, provided that basic transmission service is performed on it. The fluid should be changed every 25,000-30,000 miles (drain and fill is adequate), and the filter (if applicable) should be replaced every 90,000 miles. Many newer vehicles have "lifetime" transmission fluids. These should be drained and replaced at least twice in their lifetime, imho. Some transmissions don't have dipsticks anymore. The ATF in these transmissisions can still be replaced, but proper procedures must be followed, including jacking up the vehicle, using four jackstands to make the vehicle level, and removing the fill plug. Many, if not most, import brands (and an increasing number of domestics) use non-traditional ATF's (Traditional ATF's are Dexron III, Dexron VI, Mercon, Mercon V, ATF +4). Proper spec ATF's should be used, even if it is hard to find. This is most important for CVT's.
