Which automotive repair scan tool to buy?
From what you describe,it's getting way too much fuel. The only thing that can cause that is an injector not closing completely.Try taking them apart and check for leakage.Either the injectors are blocked which would also give it a rattling sound, the filters need replacing ( both fuel and air ) or its time to pull the old girl down and give it a rebuild.
How long does excasty stays in your system?
I'm gonna doubt it but if it has a turbo, than that sounds like the turbo is shot. it is common for a diesel to smoke when under a load, as long as the smoke is black. I would suggest changeing the fuel filter "s", and air filter. if that doesn't work than I would then check the fuel injectors, then go to the injector pump. If you use off-road died diesel, I would suggest trying just regular pump diesel. if it is good and warmed up and while you just let it idle it is smoking a lot of white, or if it has a sort of blue tint, I would have to say that the engine is really tired, and there is blow-by in the pistons, (which means it needs a rebuild) but remember it is common for a diesel to smoke white when first fired up. Hope this might help, good luck.More Questions & Answers ...
