Question:
I have a 95 M3 that i took in for repair because the engine blew out from over reving and i took it to a local BMW shop. They told me that the valves were bent so bad that it made a hole in the 2nd piston and it's easier to jus change the motor. They said they replaced the motor with a 97 M3-- 3.2 L engine. However, when i checked the motor, it was the same oldmotor that they said was replaced (also a 95--3.0 L engine looks diff. from a 3.2 engine). I spent over 6k paying for parts and labor. I contacted the Bureau of automotive repair but the guy who's handling my case has not called or returned any of my calls. Is there something else i can do?
Answers:
i dont know exactly where but somewhere on the engine block there is a VIN number. if that number matches the original one for the car take pictures of both and enjoy your victory in court.
What can I do to adjust the striker on my car door panel?
did your receipt say "replaced motor" not "rebuilt motor"?
report them to the better business bureau. we are fortunate to have a shop here owned and ran by the AMISH. they are very honest and good.
You can probably notify the Better Business Bearue and the State Attorney General as well.
How did you know that they kept the same engine in the car? Could it have just been another engine, only used?
Good Luck!!

First of all, to replace a 3.0L with a 3.2L they would have to change the transmission also. Call your local police department, they can give you further information on repair fraud and what avenues you need to take. You can also take the shop owner to small claims court, as long as you have documentation proving the engine was never changed. the best way to get this documentation is to go to your local BMW dealer and have the engine number recorded and they can tell you exactly what the engine is and if it matches the vin code. This will give you everything you need to take the man to court.Hi can i check how long does a water pump usually last?
Try the Better Business Bureau, but they may sit on their behinds.KEEP ALL DOCUMENTATION!!!!!
6k? That may exceed the small claims limit. You may need a lawyer, to sue them, dear. It happens that way.
Good Luck.
