If it's worn and making noises you just pull it out and exchange it for a re-manufactured unit. If the joint is good then you can get a boot kit and replace boots and grease but it is a lot of work.

If it is making a clicking sound it is too late to repair. If the boot is cracked and it isn't making any noise you can get an boot kit and repack with grease. If you are asking about it though I suspect it's too late for that. They are not that expensive and for a couple hundred you should be able to get one installed including part. To prevent having to replace inspect the rubber boots on the axles for cracks and replace the boots right away you will save yourself some money.
