Does r134a Refrigerant (Freon) get old where it's no good anymore?

Question:
I have some freon in my car, and it's on full, but, it's old, can this be the reason that my A/C isn't cold? Thanks. ( Honda Accord 1995, 4 Cylinder)

Do you repair a car hood, or just buy an after market hood?

Freon to my knowledge wont go bad. It can be polluted though. It sounds more like your compressor. While your refrigerant system is full, thats not to say its full of refrigerant. It might be full with air and a little bit of refrigerant. I would seek out a shop that specializes in car refrigeration.

I got my car painted three weeks ago. i already waxed it.?

from time to time it could hlep to drain the system. In a Honda if the A/c is not cold then m0ost likely you may need some more freon. He in Arizona I have to add more every couple years.

R134a is NOT Freon. Freon is a Frigidaire trademark and is R12 refrigerant. Sheez.

I have a 96 2.5 tl with codes po700 and po740 is their a quick fix for this?

r134a is a composition of different types of gas. if any leaks out the composition changes and will not work as it should.
It is a problem that did not exist in R22 or R12 gas.
Have it checked by a professional, worst case scenario: system has to be vacuumed and recharged.

What are a few cars that an LT1 350 could fit in? something cheaper, not common, im thinking like a bonneville

No. It is not possible for it to get too old. If it blows but only warm or outside air, it could be the a/c compressor clutch clip.
The only way it will loose its efficiency is if there is a leak in the line and it causes moisture to get into the system. It can not get too old.
You can tell how full the refrigerant is when you try to fill it. The guage is on the can.

First of all, how do you know your refrigerant system is fully charged? Checking refrigerant level typically requires the use of an evacuator system- something not a lot of people have lying around the house.

The short answer- It is possible, but probably not on a 12-year-old car.

Are oil changes typically walk-in?

You are likely to have a tiny leak, or like what has been said, a bad compressor. There are tons of other possibilities that can, and should be checked before suggesting that the chemical in the system itself is bad.

First question, does your car have R134a or R12 (Freon) in it.

If your AC is on full, but itsn't cold, you probably have a leak in your system, and need a recharge.

Given that your vehicle is a 1995, its probably overdue for an A/C service anyway.

TRUE or FALSE, please explain...?

sounds to me that a retro-fit to r-134a from r-12 has occurred on this car. to answer the question as been asked, no, the refrigerant does not get "old". as long as the system is sealed and the components (compressor, condenser, accumulator, coil etc,) are all intact the need for new refrigerant should not be needed. but since this seems to be a retrofit to keep a leaking system charged with a cheaper
refrigerant, you need to find the source of the leak (most probable place is the coil or the charging valve stems).
most do-it- yourself retrofits don't really work, the are a quick fix at most and normally will not hold a charge for very long. a real one
requires the changing of a lot of components to the entire system. to make sure the system holds out and before any major components are damaged have it looked at or you could pay for it in the long run. good luck.

I have a question about my slowly leaking tire?

it probably needs recharged as some has leaked out of your system, the refrigerant never goes bad, have your system checked by a shop for leaks.
