Question:
i have a 1989 iroc camaro with a 5.7l tuned port injection 350ci. the oil pressure reads 60psi is that bad? it seams to run fine. when i drive it will go down to 40 then to 60. is the engine bad or what please help!!
Answers:
I have replaced bulbs on both head lights but still don't work?
Most likely a bad sending unit.60psi seems a bit high. However, you may have a faulty oil pressure sensor. For 30 bucks, you can replace the sensor, if that doesn't change it, you may have a plugged artery somewhere, causing the pressure to spike like that. The oil type can also affect this.
Car overheating after driving a long distance?
no! its not bad, its great!! small block chevy's live a very long life with good oil pressure like that. if it gets over 80psi then it no a good thing. your car may have a high volume oil pump, which is a good thing. i had a '92 that only had 35-50 and it ran great. What can I do to fix paint Oxidation problem, the spot is getting bigger?
On a 350 chevy engine you should only have 12 to 15 psi at idle and should not go past 45 psi. The oil sending unit is prolly bad. easy fix. great car.The only time to get really nervous is when the oil pressure goes below 20 on a Chevy 350. At a steady speed is the needle bouncing back and forth between 40 and 60? That is unusual. Check your connections and the sender. Your engine is most likely fine.
thats pretty good oil pressure.if it keep going back and forth, then its probably the sending unit.
