1994 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Key Chip?

Question:
I am wondering if my car key has a chip in it that causes is not to start sometimes. I was just wondering because the car does have some kind of security system with a piece that plugs and unplugs and when it is unplugged, the car won't start. This is located on the left side under the stearing wheel near the pedels. Would a chip in the key cause my car to not start at times? A bad part?

How do you use jumper cables to jump start a car battery?

If your 94 GP had a chip in the key you would probably be able to see it. Not only that but it would not cause a intermitent no start problem. I believe your car i having problems with the switch that is mounted on the collum about half way down. Is there alot of slack in your switch? Do you have to turn your key farther then you used to so it will start? is the key hard to turn? All of these are indicators that you should check out and let us know if you want a really good answer. There is also the possability that your car has the GM system that has the switch it's self linked to the computer...and those are nightmares as well as expensive!

The security system you describe is an aftermarket starter cutout that requires a slide in piece to make the starter connection. If the contacts on that system are dirty, it may cause an intermittent failure.

is there anything in the market which i can use to repair the dent in my car something like vaccum pump.?
