Question:
We have Mercedes E200 (1996) with clutch problem so please-please help. The gear is working fine, but some times gear 3 slipping back to neutral while driving. We took it to 3 mechanics and every one tells different story without fixing the problem. One mechanic checked the fluid level and it was fine. Please-please help if you experienced similar problem or if you are an expert . Many thanks

The gear in the tranny may be fine, but the synchromesh is worn out and it pops out of gear. The clutch only allows the driver to go from gear to gear and has nothing to do with it popping out of gear.
Leaking master cylinder gasket.?
Last I checked A manual transmission doesn't use fluid,as your mechanic told you he checked. It should have gear grease.I had A import, until it started actually losing gears.Your problem sounds like A synchronizer.Or you should just buy A FordWhere on my ford escort year 1997 1.8 engine is my heater plug relay?
Sounds like a linkage problem to me. Your trans has selecting rods that when you move the lever it selects one of these rods that in turn activate the correct synchro to give you what gear you want. if the linkage to the tranny is off it may only slightly apply the synchro and be susceptible to pop off back into neutral.Well it could be a couple of things:
Dorr ajar light stays on when the doors are all closed?
1) It is not uncommon for a gear that has a chipped tooth to pop out of gear from time to time.
If you drive for prolonged periods on cruise control would that affect the engine/transmission.?
2) It could be a linkage adjustment
Where can I get my oil changed for cheap in Greensboro, North Carolina?
Incidentally, as strange as it may seem all of the Mercedes manual transmissions I have ever dealt with do use automatic transmission fluid instead of heavy weight gear oils in the transmission.. Mercedea has a unique designfor its gear box that is not only quite durable but able to use lightweight lubricant that improves fuel economy by creating less drag.

If you can afford to drive a car like this you shouldn't complain about a few bucks in repairs . this is going to be EXPENSIVEGenerally when a manual gearbox starts jumping out of gear it is due to wear between the gear spacers on the mainshaft. Not good news 'cause gets expensive. Ensure first that all the gearshift is in good working order. Replace any worn joint bearings and get a mechianic to maybe remove the shifter plate from the gearbox to ensure the selectors and shafts are not worn out. Good luck.
