Answers:

Overheating problems with my 1969 Chevy Impala SBC 350. Temp gauge reading too hot and the engine overheating.

There is a tool that kinda resembles big pliers, it is used to remove/install the brake springs(Extension) there is another tool that looks like s screwdriver, but is cupped at the end...this tool removes/installs the compression springs that hold the shoes in place... Sometimes you can get the tools all in one piece, a combination tool of sorts..Lastly, you need what is called a brake spoon, it allows you to adjust the brakes after you re-install the drums....Go to the local Napa store, and tell them what you need, they will have it in stock, I am sure...Good Luck...

interviews. what is the best way to get one and get ahead of the field.?

you really dont need special tools for drum brakes. however there is a tool for the springs that makes it alot easyer go to your local parts house and ask for a "brake spring tool" the one you want looks like a hook on one end and is kind of long. let me know if you need anything else.

My car is making a high pitched squeal at start up. I goes away after 15-20 sec of driving. Any ideas?

My opinion is if you aren't sure of what tools to use, maybe you shouldn't be working on it.

How often do you change a serpentine belt on a 99 Ford Escort?

The previous answerers were correct about the specialized tools that make the job easier...if necessary it can be done with a pair of needle nose pliers and a vise grips. One word of advice only do one side at a time so you can look at opposite side to put parts back on correctly.

How do i get the airbag light to turn off in my 99 alero?

As a professional tech., I don't think people should be doing their own brakes. Yes they seem simple but there is a right and wrong way to do them. I fix a lot of the wrong ones every year. If you don't know what tools you need you obviously have never done drum brakes before. Give it a shot if you want but you're gonna be there a while.
