how do i lower the idle speed in my 1994 4-runner?
Its best not to find out. You will be safe for at least 6000 miles on any oil change. I don't suggest trying it, take the time to get it changed, or spend the money to have someone else do it. This is further affected by how you drive it and the enviroment in which you drive it.The question to ask is..."Is it cheaper to change my oil at least as often as recommended by the manuracturer, or is it cheaper to replace the engine because you didn't change the oil often enough?"

HOW LONG DID YOU GO BEFORE THE ENGINE SIZEDwhether RPM will be higher with a cold engine in the morning?
Depends what type of car it is some can go longer between oil changes...generally you do not want to go over 5,000 miles without getting your oil changed. I do mine every three thousand as is recommended. If you engine seizes it was be very expensive to have fixed. My car wouldn't start and when it did smoke came out the exhaust.Do I need to get it checked?
It depends on the engine, it's condition, and the oil you use. With synthetic oil and modern engines, people sometimes go 25,000 miles between changes. As a practical matter, going more than the car manufacturer's recommendation is not a good idea.1999 pontiac montana transmission problems?

broken muffler can i put duck tape on it for the mean time?
I have seen a 302 ford that ran for 3 years to the tune of 55,000 miles w/o an oil change. The truck made numerous trips back and forth from Tulsa, Okla to Boulder, Co. Why anyone would not want to change oil is beyond me. You have to ask your self, " which is cheaper, oil or a new motor." This of course does not apply to the synthetic oil. I worked as a 3rd mechanic at the police garage and we put synthetic oil in 1 new car with all the documentation to verify that synthetic was in the car. and one with regular oil. At the end of 100,000 miles both cars were brought in and both engines disassembled, ALL parts were cleaned a checked for wear. The synthetic car showed .005 wear and the regular car showed .012-.021 wear. Hope this helps. Stay with synthetic oil, but you can't change to it, the rep says.
