if the gas tank isnt attached to the vehicle yet and there is no gas i it you canuse a hair dryer, depending on hwo much water was in it and for how long the tank may be rusting inside and if this is the case your feul filter will eb getting clogged very easilyGo to any good auto parts store. Wash it out very well, because it may contain dirt if i was laying around a junk yard. then just let it drain and air dry. Shouldn't take too long. just don't put heat or flame to it for obvious reasons.How do I tell which side my wheel bearing is bad on?
If possible, spray the inside of the tank with WD40 (the WD stands for "Water Dispersal"). The WD40 will stick to the tank and the water will bead. Then let the water and excess WD40 drain.
many gas tanks have drain plugs that can be removed with a wrench some do not and would require the tank to be removed to drain them! since that can be a total pain to do, I would prbably drain the tank as much as possible then find the very lowest spot on the tank and punch a very small hole in the tank using a sharp punce about the size of an ice pick to drain what was left then repair the hole with some gas tank patch epoxy found in most auto stores.

I would just drop the tank and put a new one in...you have no idea how long it has been sitting.....the tank could have rust and lord nows what..do you want this crap clogging up fuel jets ? Fuel filters.? Stuck on the side of the road in the cold and rain with a van full of screaming kids...More Questions & Answers ...
