My 1997 Chevy Silverado -started to act weird........?

Question:
it would seem as if it were running out of gas all at once and when I would barely excelerate--it would down shift hard and act like I was floorboarding it--but I wasnt. It acted this way for around 2 months--then it just kinda made a "clunk" and I was only able to go like 10 miles an hour for about 5 miles and then nothing--it was still running but that was it. I have replaced mass air flow sensor--(cha ching $$$) and fuel pump and when placed on one of those diagnosis things it read "multiple misfires" --what the hell ? Could it just be that the computer is screwed up? and multiple misfires? um---how do you fix that?

is it the spark plugs?

Sounds to me to be an IGNITION problem. Like the other gentleman said check your fuel pressure. After vthat check your ign....I'm sorry but I can't remember if you have a distributor or a DIS system..If you have a dist. Take a very close look at the cap and rotor. Under the coil(on top of the cap)there may be a short, ie: cracks or carbon tracts. The same goes for the inside of the cap. Also the rotors will occasionally leak through to the dist. shaft.. Looke up inside hole that receives the shaft..If vyou have a distribitorless ignition system the problem is most likely module under the coil pack. The coil pack in it's entirety can be removed very easily. If you have a friend who has a like truck borrow his for a few minutes. Remove and replace time 30-45 minutes. Don't buy a unit to test as once you take it out of the store you own it. Not cheap.........Hope I was some help...

Ok Check the plugs, and the coil pack. If it has been a long time since you changes the plugs it will mave multiple misfires.
. When you changed the fuel pump, did you change the filter?
Could it be the computer? I dont think so. The computer controlls most of the cars functions, rearly do thy go bad.
Hope this helped and thanks for your question.

This goes with my other question to be more specific about the blown head?

possibly plugged fuel injectors if you have a vortec engine. GM extended the warranty to 200,00 or 10 yrs. . or you can try a fuel cleaner like Techron made by chevron.
