on a 54 plate was stolen last week, I thought that with the new cars they couldn't be driven away with out the key as it has computer chip in it, my car has a vauxhall cat 2 standard immobiliser. can they be driven with out the keys has any one had same experience?

Plus the chip in your key corresponds to the transponder and ecu in your car. and with a bit of fiddling they could just change the transponder to one of their own, this isnt that hard to do and although its not a long term solution it gets the car away to be worked on later.

Alarms and immobilisers are nothing more then deterrents. And factory fitted ones don't count for much as if a thief's worked out how to steal one corsa he's worked out how to steal them all.

Sorry to hear that. Having your car stolen is a really unpleasant experience.Last time I had my car stolen I didn't even notice it had gone when i left for work (had someone collecting me that day). I got a visit from police at lunchtime to inform me my car had been stolen... and the two teenagers who took it had hit a tree at speed and both died. WOOT !
