Question:
Went into my dealership for a 30,000 mile check up and they told me it would be 299. Which I think is high. As I was waiting they came out and told me that my front wheel drive car needed new rear wheel brakes. That cost 265. By the time I left my total bill was 642. I am thinking about taking it every 5,000 (they recommend 3,000) miles to Goodyear for my oil and lube change - I am not a car guy and feel ripped off. Can a car guy give me some options where I can save money but not lose the quality.

I am not a car guy, but my husband is an ASE certified mechanic and licensed smog tech. You were ripped off. Your first mistake was taking it to the dealer -you will ALWAYS pay more - WAY more. I am assuming you took it to the dealer because it is still under warranty. If it is under warranty, check with the company that you have the warranty with (some warranties have stipulations about where you can take your vehicle for repairs, so make sure you don't take it to an unauthorized shop - you don't want to void your warranty) and see if you can take it elsewhere, like an independent garage or mechanic. If your car is NOT under warranty, then consider taking it to an independent garage or mechanic in the future. Another option (if your car IS under warranty) is if you know someone (a friend or friend of a friend) that is an ASE certified mechanic, you may be able to take your vehicle to that mechanic and have him do the work (which will probably be cheaper than the dealership) and not void your warranty. But again, check with your warranty company for approval first. The dealership we bought my Mitsubishi Spyder from will allow my husband to work on the vehicle himself without voiding the warranty. Best of luck to you.
can the feul regulator make the car flood?
If you thought it was high, did you question it? Did you see the rear brakes to know the condition? (Usually the front brakes wear first since they do most of the work when stopping). If you aren't happy with the dealership you are using, try another. If you want to keep the warranty in place the vehicle must be checked as they have demanded. But you don't have to use any particular dealership.
what do i have to do if i want to put 20 inch tires and rims on my truck if it has factory 16 inch?
Generally you change the oil every 3000 miles, I would personally recommend that after owning 4 Hondas.
I would agree that you were a bit ripped off from the dealer with brakes. A simple midas shop will ask for 500-100 per axle.
where is the starter on a 90 jeep cherokee 4.0 located?
But as far as your brakes being bad in the first place you would have to look, do other people drive your car? Do you use your E brake often? Even though it is a front wheel drive car all of the brakes are being used at the same time.
I left my lights on and had to get a jumpstart. Is my battery bad now?
Plus some Accords have rear drum brakes, those sometimes cost A LOT when you get them serviced, due to problems with internals, etc.
