It hasn't always been this way and I've had it for a year now. I've noticed it more within the last couple months or so. It's mainly when starting the car after it's sat for a while. It seems like I'm almost forcing the gear shift and I feel my car car jerk when doing so. What's causing this and how can it be repaired? Is it costly? I have a 99 4 dr automatic Taurus, 79,000 miles. Thanks!

u got all worn-out clucth plate.. have the mechanic change it.. usualy the clucth cover and the clutch bearing also change..It's a typical Ford Taurus... as long as the transmission isn't slipping during a drive, then all you really need to do is apply the parking brake before putting it in park when on a slight incline ! If it get worse... you might want to consider a new transmission or a newer car ! New rebuilt tranny = $1500 with labor

First of all you have a Taurus with almost 100k miles. second, have you checked the transmission fluid in it?Your poor car! You probably need transimission fluid! I don't know how it is still running if you have been having this problem for the last couple months or so! Your car is not even that old and you are running it into the ground without trans fluid!
