93 camaro won't start won't turn over nothing dash lights are all you get when you turn key no cllick nothing

Question:
I went to pay bills came home for awhile when i went to crank my car there was nothing but the dash lights working. All the lights on dash were on but the security light was blinking it was the only one blinking. We have charged the battery had the starter checked changed the clutch switch and the ignition switch has been changed someone said my key could be bad so i bought a new $25.00 key none of these things have helped me.

You have a problem with the VATS (Vehicle AntiTheft System). The blinking security light on the dash tells me that the system is active and keeping the car from starting. The most common fault is the wires at the ignition lock cylinder break and do not allow the code from the key to reach the module.

It sounds like you have already replaced a lot of parts and haven't found the problem. Who has done all the work to it so far? Do they know how the system works? If not they may be overlooking the problem.

This is a fairly straightforward system and someone with experience with it should be able to tell you where the exact problem is.

what is an engine number and where is it located?

By the way when you got the new key did it have the pellet it it and was it checked and matched up with the new one? If it isn't the same resistance as the old one the key will not work for your car.

Does your car have the 'key' for your security system? Its usually located under the dash. I know quite a few GM's have this and if it fell out, then that would cause your security light to continue to flash, but not allow your car to turn over. Let me know.
