Does anyone know what it means if allof a sudden while driving your odometer, spedometer, etc... go out?

If car shuts of after putting it in reverse you might want to check your vacuum hoses and the pipe going from your air filter box to throttle body for cracks. When in Reverse the motor shifts in a different direction then when it is in Drive and if there is a split in one of these hoses then it may be opening up a little and causing motor to hesitate or stall.
