i have a 98 corolla and when i turn the key to start it in the morning it clicks, and i turn the key a couple more times and it starts. but only after about 5 tries of turning the key. is something going bad that i need to get replaced, any ideas on what the problem could be?

Your starter solenoid is going bad, you will need to get a new starter, the solenoid comes mounted on the starter.

I agree with the dirty battery posts. Your battery cables are so corroded that they are not making good contact. Have the cable ends removed or remove them. Postive end first then clean the corrosion off until shiny. Coke will melt most off but they need to be scraped. Just tightening them might help if one is loose. It sounds like your solenoid but you can take it to Autozone, O'reilly's, Advance auto, etc and have them test your charging system. It could just be a bad connection to your battery.Whats the deal with the new high performance 4-strokes?

just because the battery post looks clean on the outside it doesnt mean theyre clean on the inside.You have to take them off and sand them to a shine(both posts and cable ends)check for corosion at the starter and ground on th engine,(follow battery cables to the engine and starter)if all is clean then it should start if not have your battery and alternater tested at a part store or garage. good luck
