I have spent 800 on power steering and new battery now transmission is slipping and won't go into gear until you stop and turn engine off and put into park.Then start it back up it goes into gear and about a block it goes out again Anybody?

You dont say how many miles on the car or if its ever had tranny troubles. Smell the fluid. It smell bad? The bands may be worn. Also try driving the car for a few blocks in something other than "D". If you can, drive it in one... if it doesnt slip out, shift it up to two, then to "D" and see if you here it shift into OD before it slips. Short and sweet of it is that you really should take it to a shop.Sounds like it is low on fluid. Try flushing the transmission and adding lucas transmission slip fix. It sounds like when the tranny gets warm the fluid thins and you dont have enough.

First, check the fluid level. Some GMs require you take it to a shop because you have to check the fluid on a hoist. Ask around for a reputable tranny shop if it gets more complex than just the fluid.My back brakes was leaking fluid....but now i think my brake has lock up?
they sell a transmission fix stuff they sell it at wall mart for about $10.00 my friend swears by it! her transmission was doing something similar and it did fix it and that was about a year ago! i will try to get the name and get back to you:)*no one can seem to remember but they said it supposed to be for "high mileage" but of course will work in anything but good luck to you:) i hope you can find it its worth a shot.

I wonder if this is an automatic transmission, if it is, go to your parts store and get a transmission filter kit, and enough fluid to re-fill it, then take the transmission oil pan down, ( have something to catch the oil) then take the oil filter out and replace it, put the new pan gasket on and reseal it, them add the new oil start it up, ( let it idle so the oil can get thru the tranny) then check the oil level add if needed, then try it out and see how it works..a lot of time the transmission filter is partially clogged and needs to be replaced...
if it still slips go but that "KIKIME" said to buy....and try that before you do anything else, she knows a lot too...
