It seem unusual for an 06 reg car to be cat D write off. Cat D is minor accident damage or stolen recovered ( after insurance paid out). It will always be worth less than a none cat D car. Also some insurance companies may get sniffy about insuring it. They can be good value depending on the fault. I would avoid those that are accident damaged and go for stolen/recovered or those that the interior has been destroyed in some way. i would be very cautious of this vehicle,as cat d is for light damage so why would the insurance write it off as a cat d.i presume you are unsure about this to be asking the question in which case keep your money in your pocket,there are plenty more cars out there
