I have a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Track that has 21203 miles. With Problems please Help?

Today the Check Engine Light came on and it began to shake violently or have a rough idle. It acted like it had no power and every time i mashed the gas it would shake. It cut off several times but would always cut back on for me. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong. Thank You for any help you can provide.
