It has been VERY cold here the past few mornings and when starting my car it took a few turns of the key for it to actually start up. The engine would turn over and stuff.. just not fire up at first. But after three or four attempts it would start and stay started just fine. However after driving it around a while, parking and trying to restart it, it would be fine until the next morning. What is wrong?

check your battery under load. cold weather would make a 600 cca battery crank like a 400. if your batery is old upgrade to the highest output battery that you can use in you car.if you have a newer battery & is barely making it wrap it will a towel & try to shield it from the cold. make sure that if the towel gets wet that it is removed before it turns to ice & makes thinks even colder

its just too cold. im also going through the same thing i live in oklahoma and we have just suffered a horrible snow storm. but even though it takes a few turns nothing is wrong its just cold. if it doesnt seem to be starting as well try holding the gas pedal about half way down until it starts up then let off and it should be fine.Hi, I need front pads and rotors for my 2001 Buick Regal, which ones are the best to buy?
I was going to ask the SAME question! I did notice that on warmer days, the car starts up as soon as I turn the key the first time...its ok.i live in pa. and it gets cold here.it takes more juice to fire a car when its cold then when its warm outside.

The oil is almost freezing. That's what makes the engine hard to start. Check your oil, and replace it with special oil which does not easily freeze. Ask local mechanic for that information.Other probable cause is your battery. Might want to check the battery liquid also.
