my wife added some used oil that i had in the trunk of my 1995 oldsmobile aurora. didnt find out until i notice my low oil pressure warning light came on after driving it for a while the light went off.i was do for a oil change anyway will this bring my oil pressure back up. and one other thing does anyone knows the psi oil pressure.

It prob. won't hurt the engine if you are talking about just adding a small amount of used oil like 1 or 2 qts. I would just have the oil changed soon to make sure no damage is done to your car.Heater not working in car? Please HELP!?
The new oil change should bring your oil pressure back up, if it doesn't, since your car is old, the sensor is prob. shot, and not worth spending loads of $$$ to have repaired/checked.

I would just change your oil every 3,000 miles, or every 3 months. This is pretty standard if you ask any mechanic. Don't go by what your manual says. Some say every 7,500 miles. To me, this is a joke.

ur oil preasure light is a diffrent storie but if i were u i would change the oil out fast because ur not sure whats in that used oil and if there are any metal paticals or other things in it it could do some damage to the car for instance ruin ur rings cause build up on the piston or something getting in ur barrings and screwing up alot of stuff upAs a mechanic, the rule of thumb is 10lb of oil pressure per every 1000RPM is a minimum. Example: at 4000rpm you need at least 40lb of oil pressure. If you experience low oil pressure its could be several different things, bearings, excessive clearance between oil pump gears, weak oil pump spring, clogged pick up tube, faulty light or gauge ect... If you have good oil pressure when cold and very low oil pressure when hot then the bearings are worn. Could be main, cam or rod bearings. One more thing, the oil return holes in the heads could be stopped up

Low oil can cause low oil pressure..... oil is oil..... if its clean (sure its used, but i'm talkin kept in a clean container like a old oil container bottle) Its ok..... its better then not having any I can assure you...DO NOT overfill.... you know how to check the oil? pop the hood, pull the dipstick out, wipe it clean, put it back in and pull it out and read it..... should be within the crosshatch... if its not reading, add oil till its just at the full mark...

then go get the oil changed... I recommend strongly that you keep a couple quarts in the trunk.... and check the oil level often.., at least once a week...
And its correct....10lbs of oil pressure, per 1000 rpm.....
If the oil doesn't help..... you have more serious problems that need to be addressed promptly.
