a car will only go into limp mode when it has a fault.A cars computer (or ecu) has the ability to sense problems within the engine due to the information being relayed back and forth from its various senses.wen a ecu finds a fault it will genrally turn the engine managment light on in your dash this light then alerts you that the ecu has located a fault and has recorded a code so that a qualified technician can plug in a diagnostic scanner and see wat the fault is.But in your case the fault (watever it may b) is disturbing the ecu that much that it switches itself to limp mode(also known as limp home mode)were genrally the transmission will stay in top gear timing is reduced to a costant 0 degrees and electrical fans will stay on etc.these r set perameters were u can limp your car home.the only way to rectify this problem is have a qualified technicion plug in an appropriate diagnostic tool to see wat codes your computer has logged and replace any faulty senses or switches (althogh the problem could b anything faulty wiring etc) that are causing the problem.the ecu could also b at fault a good technician will no that a fault code recorded by an ecu may not always b tru as smart as your ecu is detecting faults it cannot fault itself if it is faulty beware of mechanics that keep telling you diffrent things to change that arnt fixing the problem as stupid mechanics will rely on these codes to diagnose the problem. hope this helpscontact dealership
