before everyone says 'you should have done it beforehand' I KNOW, but i have been ill and couldn't, My m.o.t expires on the 7th april but my mechanic can't pick my car up till the 13th will it be okay? or will i end up with the dvla sending me letters etc. thanks :-)

You can't use the car after the 7th, but it can be driven to the mot centre if it's pre-booked.Checkers,schucks,and kragen auto part stores,are the any good and do they have the parts in stock?
It is also computerised as well so the police can check straight away that you have not got an MOT.The fine is heavy an not worth the risk
you shouldn't get anything from the dvla but as others have said you cant use your car on the public road now and your insurance isn't valid .you can however drive your car to a pre-arranged mot appointment .

Book it in drive it and if you get stopped just say you tried to get it done on the 6th etc but you could not get a booking until the 23rd and you may be ok depending on the copper.There is a backlog with mot,s in some ares because it has got tougher recently so if you have a confirmed booking you may swing it if you do not oik at them etc.

If you knowingly run about with a vehicle which doesn't have a current mot you are committing an offence. The police only have to pass you these days before their computer will grass you up. why not drive your car to mot centre, make a booking, most of us testers will do minor adjustments free of charge and you get 10 working days to repair before another full test is done, some simple retest items are free before end of next working dayIn a sticky situation .. Advice needed?
