it sounds like you have a loose wire somewhere in the ignition system. check all the conections and make sure they are all CLEAN & Tight . If it happens again or if the check Engine light comes on take it to a shop to be checked out.Jim—

Maybe a dirty fuel or air filter caused the failure because of the higher demand of air and fuel at highway speeds.Check the connections to the battery- they may be loose or have chemicals that have leaked on them. That's what happened to me anyway.

it could be the alternator or the battery. i would go to a auto zone or advance auto have it checked. they will check it for free.Depends on the car and the system. My own experience with my CARBURETED 89 pickup was that the carb was getting clogged, and wasn't functioning properly on starting and going up steep hills (high engine stress situations). Solution: carb rebuild. (the check engine light had been coming on for some time, btw)

If by power you mean engine power it could be the fuel injectors, fuel lines, fuel filter, ignition. If it is cold where you live you can get a product that helps remove water from the fuel systerm that might becaused by freezing temps. The fuel filter might need to be replaced, so might the fuel pump. The fuel injectors might be clogged. You can get fuel cleaner from an auto parts store and see if that helps. Check the air filter, it might need to be replaced.
If it was electrical, it could be lose wires. You should check the battery and see if the connections are lose or corroded. If the battery isn't secured it could have shifted and caused the cables to lose conection. Have the battery tested at an autoparts store, it might need to be replaced.
