recently broke overhead cam shaft on my 1993 Honda Accord. Is there a do it yourself way or do I need a mech.?

Yes... the sending unit could indeed be burning up your pumps. The pumps require the fuel to go through them to keep them cool. If the sending unit has pin holes or anything on them... it causes the pump to work too hard to pull the fuel through it.

my SUV temp gauge does not ever move off of the cool side...does my termostat need changing??

I often change that entire unit whenever changing pumps just for that reason. Especially if the car is over ten years old. Pain in the fanny dropping the tank yet again, huh? At least it's new and easy to remove all the bolts on the straps and whatnot.

after an ice storm how do you get a car out of it??

poor seal (gaskets), dirt in tank maybe, clean it out

smoky steam from under hood, check gauge light on, water temp goes to hot?

have the fuel pressure checked to see if the regulator is working properly, it's posible that it is not working at all and putting an undue strain on the pump, although i usually see them fail the other way as in to low of fuel pressure
