What is difference between 1.4 AND 1.6 engine?
You can check your ignition control module located directly beneath your coil packs. This will cause your coil packs to not spark, and it could also explain why one pack is firing and one isnt. Replace it with one from a junkyard and see what happens.Quote:
You have to check out points and rotor.. timing is important.
and are you asking an 8 cylindar motor to forget the other four pistons? what did you do to check out the wiring to the starter and from the starter? don't kill yourself messing with things you know nothing about.
If you don't know what you are talking about, you also shouldn't be answering these questions. This car has a DIS system, which means it doesn't have a distributor. And if it did, it wouldn't have points/condensor. That went out in the 70s with the development of electronic ignition.

If you are not getting no spark then of course no start. But to start on lesser plugs you have to change the timing a little.

Take the coil wires off of one coil and crank the engine. If spark jumps from one terminal to the other it is ok.Now do the other coil.If no spark check for power at the throttle possition sensor .If no power check ECM fuse.Check map sensor plug in wiring as they have been known to back out just enough to cause a no start.More Questions & Answers ...
