Question:
for a busted head gasket and now there is no response from my spedometer/odometer.......is it repairable and how much will it likely set me back cost-wise?
Answers:
my taillights dont work and i checked my fuses what else could it be?
Don't worry, it wont cost anywhere near what a head gasket would be.
i have a 1991 ford f150 were is the starter?
The cable attach's to the transmission and the inside art of your car. The cables very rarely go bad. When I had my head gaskets fixed I had the same problem. I took it back to the repair shop and they had disconnected it and did not reconnect it, so free of charge they fixed it for me. I would take it back and explain that it was working when you brought to them and now it does not and have them check it out. Before allowing them to put a new one on however, I would take it somewhere else for a second opinion. Then if the second one tells you it is really broke have them fix it.I have a 96 Dodge ram 1500 with a v8?
Ouch! The head gasket. I have a similar car to yours and the same thing (speedometer/odometer) has happened with me, (Taurus, 97), but it's tempermental. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I was also having some trouble with my transmission shifting - they (transmission chip to the speedometer chip) weren't talking to each other. Hey, if the speedometer says the car is barely moving, why should the car move to second, right? I would think yes, it is repairable, and agreed, not as much as a head gasket, but for now, I have left mine alone as well. It may be a "computer" glitch. That'd be great if the same thing happened with you as the other!
