1. Attach one of the clamps to the positive terminal of the "good" battery (red is usually used for positive to keep things straight).

My 2000 kia sephia takes off slowly in drive but if I put it in 1st gear it takes off like it should. HELP!

2. Attach the other end of the red cable to the positive terminal on the "dead" battery.

3. Attach the black cable to the negative terminal of the good battery.

what are the first things that i need to install to my car befor i start racing on it?

4. Attach the other end of the black cable to a metal bit on your engine (radiator, alternator, etc.). You want to clamp it on an unpainted surface to insure a good connection, and you want to make it as far from the battery as is practical. Be careful that the cable isn't going to get caught up in any moving parts like the belts of radiator fan.

i have a 1985 Z28 with a 89 5.0 roller motor. why does oil come out the dipstick tube?

5. Start the donor car.

6. Start the dead car. If the battery you're jumping from is weak, you might have to have someone rev the donor car's engine to bring up enough juice to start the dead car.

7. After the dead car is started, disconnect all the cables in reverse order, and go for a drive or let the car idle for at least 20 or 30 minutes to get a charge back in the dead battery.

Where can i find a crossover pipe for a 1995 camry le v6 that is reasonable other then dealership?

8. If your battery isn't holding a charge any more and you need to do this frequently, pop out the battery and take it to an auto parts store. They'll be able to quickly test the battery and let you know if the problem is with the battery itself. If it is, no problem--just buy a new battery. If it isn't, then you have a problem elswhere in your charging system (alternator, wiring harness, etc.), and you're going to have do some more diagnostic work to find the problem.

I have a Fiat Punto (N reg) a light keeps coming on, it looks like a pipe with water coming out, what is it?

Place jumper cables between two batteries, make sure the red is on the + and the black is on the - on both bat.

I cannot find a front licence plate bracket for a 96 Bravada.?

connect the red cable to both + terminals. The black cable attaches to the - terminal on the car with the good battery, and to anything metal on the engine in the car with the bad battery. Start the car with the good battery and let run for a few minutes to begin charging the bad battery. After a few minutes start the car with the bad battery and disconnect the cables, - side first.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a tire wheel for a 2003 Ford ZX2 automobile?

Take battery cables. Hook them up to the batteries (match the colors up). Turn on the car that doesn't need jumped. Let it run for a couple minutes to feed some juice to the dead battery. Try to start the car with the dead battery. If it doesn't start, try revving the engine of the other car.

how much is a new battery gonna be?

Connect the black lead from the - terminal of the dead car to that on a working car.
Start the engine on the working car.
Connect the red lead from the + terminal of the working car to the + terminal of the dead car.
Leave for a few minutes to allow the dead car battery to take some charge.
Rev up the working car and keep it revved up (until other car starts) - so that the generator is working to charge the battery.
Crank the dead car - it will use the electricity from the working car to crank and start.
If the dead car doesn't start in 30 seconds - stop cranking as the leads will be getting very hot!
Keep the dead car engine running for 10 mins or so to get some charge into its battery.
Disconnect the red lead first from both ends - ensure that it does not touch anywhere on either car while you disconnect.

what maintance checks should be done to my car before going on vacation?

Be careful of free advice.
Most are right > > jumper cables > > + to + > > - to -
(note connect the charged battery first, then red + to the dead one but the negative to the chassis or metal to avoid any sparks close to the battery).
You may need a new battery, If jumping works but if you shut it off, and it will not start again, It is not holding a charge.
