Question:
no speedometer cable
Answers:
What would short a fusible link?
first, you need to have your car checked to see what codes are causing the light to stay on. the speed sensor either goes on the transmission or the front tire. your mechanic should be able to tell you.The check engine light goes on when any of the components that are checked by the computer give a signal out of normal range. In your case it's probably connected to the speedometer not working. The computer keeps track of both speed and RPM. The speed sensor is in the right front tire. There may be two on some models, one in each front tire, but I believe yours has only the one. Have your mechanic scan the trouble codes and make sure the speed sensor is the only problem.
What can be done about oxidized metal and plastic on car bumpers. I have a Japanese SUV?
The most common cause of intermittant speedometer failure for this model is a bad instrument cluster. I have replaced several for my customers. Try hitting the dash pad right above the cluster and see if it springs to life. Even if this does not help it is still likely to be the cause of your problem. If you purchase a used cluster they are pretty inexpensive and it takes less than an hour to replace. The sensor is located on the top of transmission. If you need help finding a cluster just let me know. Good luck!It is 4 degrees outside, will there be any problems if I were to wash my car?
your speed sensor is on the transmission that helps the speedometer work, this will also set the check engine light on it,,you can easily change this it mounts at the rear of the transmission ,it has a small wiring harness to it ,after you replace it you,ll have to get the check engine light turned off though,,auto zone can do this for you ,its a free service, and they can tell you if there's anything else wrong with it ,,that's what id do on this one,,good luck, hope this help.s.,happy new years.More Questions & Answers ...
