Can someone reccomend a good extended auto warranty?
Methyl hydrate. You can pick up a syringe from the pharmacy (they don't come with needles and you don't need one), and squirt the methyl hydrate into the lock. Works better than anything else I've tried including lock de-icer (which is comprised mostly of methyl hydrate.I have ran an extension cord and used my moms hair dryer before it takes a bit but it worked
If your car is close to your house and you have long enough of extension cord(s) you can take the hair dryer to it at high heat. Just be careful when grabbing the door handle bc it will most likely be hot as hell

Is it advised to get a tune-up after 100,000 miles?
Have you tried a hair dryer, be careful if you have to use an extension cord. You could place an electrical bulb near it. That could keep it free of ice.i would say a heat gun... however, ive only tried this once before and it was actualy my door that had been frozen-not the lock, but i believe its the same principle... the heat gun (im not to sure on its direct terminology, but, it looks like a gun from a science fiction movie and it emits large amounts of heated air) can be found ( I believe ) at home depot or lowes (however, i found mine at a yard sail) But, if you have trouble finding a heat gun then I would suggest using a copper soldering torch. There are many kinds, but the best is the Bernz O-matic Trigger Start Torch Kit, it has a sparker on its handle and is very simple to use. But, be careful because the butane flame it emits is very very very hot...
I need help disconnecting the fog lights in a 2002 PT Cruiser?
i agree with the hair dryer. unless you don't have electric close enough to the car. then try heating the key with a lighter. it may take a few times, but it should work. also, be careful not to burn yourself on the hot key. wear gloves or hold the key with a pliers.take some flamable spray and use a lighter to make a flamethrower to melt the ice
Will a rear end out of a 72 ford f250 fit in a 71 ford f100 without fitting problems?
Get an asbestos glove to hold onto the key and heat the key on the stove till it is hot enough to sizzle when ya sprinkle a drop of water on it then insert it into the lock and start wiggling it. This will do the trick. You need to spray some silicone into the lock to displace the moisture. Also the weatherstrip around the door need to be cleaned and the same silicone spray used on it too so the door won't freeze shut. Spray the silicone on a rag and wipe it on . This will prevent the door seal from freezing and also prolong the life of the weatherstrip. Use it on the trunk or rear hatch for the same results. You just have to make sure all the dust and dirt are cleaned off and the weatherstrpping dry before applying itMore Questions & Answers ...
