Question:
I have 2000 Kia Sephia, it has 60000 thousands mile on it. When i was driving back to the home on the highway it had suddenly lost the power and engine lights came on. When i stopped the car it was shaking like a cradle. Later on i took it to the mecanic they did the tune up but nothing changed. They told me the 3th slinder is not working seems like it is a missfire and they said we need to do the had gasket job which about at least 9 hundered dollars.
What do you guys think about it, can i trust the mecanic or should i change the ignition coil, it might be the reason for the missfire.
Thanks

get a second opinion. if u ran out of oil or water it could be blown but do the coil firstI think I have a bad Thermostat and my temp gauge fluctuates....?
Do a compression check. That will tell you what the condition of the cylinder .The web site below describes the procedure in detail
how would you run the electrical wiring for a light switch to turn on and off a ceiling fan?
i own a repair shop, and you need to take it and have a compression check done on it,, this will help determine if it does have a blown head gasket on it,,other wise a new coil may be a waste of money right now,,they should have done a compression test on it when the tuned it up,,i always do,,i guess all shops are different ,but id have this done to make sure its not a bad head gasket,,if its just a miss-fire then id replace the coil on it,,good luck hope this help,s.How do I remove a parking decal from my car window without damaging the decal?
I would get a second opinion, but I would change the coil too.I would definitely check the compression on that cylinder to see if there is a leak before you go and have the head gasket replaced. Also check to see if the spark plug wire has gone bad on that cylinder. This would also cause a cylinder to misfire. I had that happen on my '96 Monte Carlo.
Problems with 2003 Chevy Malibu?
Sounds like a misfire.... one of your cylinders is not firing. Go to your local auto store and get the code read. Check your spark plug wires. You might also need new plugs and wires. If my car engine is 5665 cc's can anyone convert this to horsepower for me please?
It could be a Motor Mount , If you have a bad motor mount on your car it will cause your car to shake and cut off! and if you have a bad head gasket usually you can check it yourself by checking the oil while the engine is off! there should be a chocolate milk looking like substance on the dip stick, or on the inside of your oil fill cap, if you see this chocolate milk looking substance on your dip stick or inside oil cap you have a blown head gasket.you need to take it to the repair shop and have a compression check done on it,, this will help determine if it does have a blown head gasket on it,,other wise a new coil may be a waste of money right now,,they should have done a compression test on it when the tuned it up,,i always do,,i guess all shops are different ,but id have this done to make sure its not a bad head gasket
