Anyone know what else I can check or do to get the heating working on a Renault 19?

Question:
Engine works well, new thermostat (works well), blower motor works well, heater matrix has been flushed through, water seems to flow through matrix okay. When turning temp control from cold to hot I get a minimal temperature rise, but does not become hot. Have come to a blank now!

there is a door pulled by a cable that switches hot to cold.all you heater control is-is a lever with a cable attached.at the end of that cable is a door that is pulled and pushed by that cable.sometimes mice get in there and fill it up with crap stopping it from closing or just may be stuck.some cars have basically the same system but use vacume to open and close it.try and get to the door or pull out the heater control to see if the cable is moving all the way,good luck.

check the switch, behind it is usually some metal rods, they accasionally snap or bend which causes the heating not to change, if there is a small amount of change in the heat then they are just bent.

if your thermostat is stuck open heat pressure doesn't get a chance to build up before the thermo is to open. it's a cheap and easy job $15 here and about twenty minutes of work if you know what your doing.
