Car Trouble?

Question:
Ok I don't know if it's all in my head but when I apply the breaks I hear this weird noise coming from the back. It sounds like a bucket full of water knocking over (i'm not making this up). I have nothing in the trunk but a box and the spare tire. Can it be the back back rotors perhaps or something underneath?

Answers:

Light bulbs have blown in two lamps, have replaced bulbs & checked & replaced fuses and still not working help

Depending on your car make you should have drum brakes in the back. Sometimes on older cars water can leak into the drums and will make a swishing sound at times, but this is rare.

does aNYONE KNOW THE STUD LOCATION FOR AN LT35 PANEL VAN '93?

Another thing is you may have a hole somewhere where rain water or when you go to the car wash water is getting in the body somewhere. If you do have a place in the trunk for a spare. Check this place out and make sure it isnt full of water where your trunk might have leaked.

Another thing you could try is find a good size hill. Park your car up the hill get out and see if you see any water coming from the rear. Also park it down the hill and do the same thing. You can as well place your hands ontop the trunk over each shock and press down hard 2 or 3 times and see what you hear or how the car acts.

I have a 2001 Saturn Sl1 with 100000 on it. Need Mechanical advice?

It sounds like a weight shift more than a rear brake issue. I'd get under the rear of the car when it's cool and try to move things around.

Do I have a steering mechanism problem or do I need a wheel alignment?

I might have a friend move the car forward a couple inches and see if I could locate the motion when they apply the brakes.
