Need help with the idle of a 1991 CRX.?
If for some reason you think that the battery cable is broken us a jumper cable and place it on each end. if it starts replace the cable. My car will start in this cold weather, but?
there is no power at the end of the cable. duh.Why won't a store-bought battery work in a 2005 VW Jetta?
either the insulator is coming apart, or the cable itself is broken or the wires inside are broken, if the car starts the cables arn't borken (usually) but if the insulator is coming apart, a battery cable is needed.Tires' experts, a poor guy needs ur help!?
if you mean broken off then just feel along and look . do this after disconnecting the battery all together.to find out if there is a worn spot on it that is touching something you would look for sparks or use a ohm amp tester and see how much power is getting from the battery to the starter for instants.
Car oil filters - how do you know what kind to get?
.Most of the time , just looking at it will tell you while you try to wiggle it some. It might just be corroded, and need a good cleaning. You can tell more with a test light. Put the test light on the starter and have someone try starting it, see how dull the test lamp gets, now try the same thing with the test light on the battery post (center), if the lamp stays bright at the battery, then the cables are dirty or broken, and need cleaned or replaced.i asked a question before regarding a 406 and its milage going from 60000 to 146000?
look at itUsually, a defective battery cable fails to carry a current, or fails to transfer the battery voltage to the next connection spot. If a battery cable were to break, you should try to wiggle it, such that the broken ends would separate and you could see that the cable is broken.
The battery cable is a large diameter cable because it has to carry a lot of current. (Amperes). Especially when the starter motor is engaged. Most car batteries around the world have 12Volt batteries, but there are six volt, 24 volt, and lots of other ratings. The voltage rating (12V) times (X) the ampere load (current) equals the Wattage rating. Big, high compression engines need a lot of power to get started; thus high wattage, big sized batteries. Little engines sometimes don't need a battery. Antique cars often had hand cranks to get them started. No battery in the car. They use a magneto to generate a high voltage spark. Any time an electrical cable is broken or disconnected, something is not going to work. Like a radio, headlights, coil, air conditioner, fan, heated seats, defrosters, etc. Most of these are 12 Volt devices, with different ampere (current) loads.
