I just bought a 1997 BMW 740Li. It has 133,000 miles on it. How do I know what type of oil to use? I would hate to destroy the engine. It's such a nice car.

Just take it to a shop or ask anyone at autozone! I would recommend some oil that is made for higher mile engines..i think valvoline makes some...probably in a 10w-30

Draining oil?

I would first look on the oil fill cap and see if that says and you may find it in the owners manual it problem takes a type of synthetic oil
