Car ignition problem?

Even if it is not an interferance engine if it is a little loose inside it can make internal contact and take out a valve train. Even the slightest bit of contact and your valves will bend. I had this same problem last summer and had to completely rebuild my engine.

What are the torque specs on 99 Escort 2.0L Head Gasket & the torque sequence?

It's a zero tolerance to me because I would not own one. Actually the 2.3 is a good eng and you mean interference like valve to piston, engine, I don't know if it is. sorry. If it threw the timing belt, I'll bet it will be okay.
