Do I have to use same manufacture's tire to replace the flat one ?

I got a flat tire and need to replace one. I was told by a mechanic that I needed to get the one from the same manufacture.
I have 215-R60/16 of continental tire but I thought that I can get anyone's as long as the size is same. Isn't it ?

now if your other 3 tires are fairly new....just but 1 tire of the same to replace the flat, so you have a matching set. if the other 3 tires are getting near time to replace...then go ahead and buy 2 tires that you like, either the same or different, and then have them mounted on both fronts or both rears.
