Had the AA change two coil packs and all plugs then they have given up (but they did a good job spending hour and half helping me - highly recommended you join them) - towed me home, Their is still a misfire on cylinders 1 and 4, will have to take to renault garage. Is this electrical fault or E.C.U problem?? Any advice would be grateful so renault garage doesn't rip me off

Sometimes, when coil packs burn out, they spike the ECU, which in turn causes that to either burn out or develope a permanent fault.

I would swap 2 and 3 injectors with 1 and 4 injectors and see if the misfires follow the 1 and 4 injectors. If not and the misfires remain in 1 and 4 then you could have a spiked ECU.

You could also have a faulty crank sensor, as 1 and 4 are at TDC at the same time, the crank sensor could be missing the firing point for 1 and 4.

Have you tried changing the H.T leads, worth trying to change this first as it's very cheap.No. 1 & 4 wires didn't get exchanged did they?

Coil packs are a problem on these vech did they recode the ecu if they did not that could be your problem.hi,just replace number 1 and 4 cylinder coil packs then your fault will be cured,its easy to do yourself and cheaper,this is a very common problem,or any local garage can do this it is not a main dealer only repair.
