When you have the oil changed by professional they are suppose to flip a reset switch on the autos that have one. If it is not time for an oil change, then you may want to contact a mechanic. I would go to auto parts store, like autozone. They do a free check on cars with these types of lights. The light must be on before they can do diagnostic reading on it. Check wiring to the oil sending unit, you don't want it rubbing on anything. If it rubs through it will short the circuit to ground and cause the light to come on. With the engine running unplug the oil sending unit, the light should go out. Touch the end of the wire to ground (engine block) light should come on. Repair wiring if needed.If it checks good, replace the oil sending unit. Do not put teflon tape on the threads of the oil sending unit it will cause the switch not to function whenit should.
