Question:

Answers:

after an ice storm how do you get a car out of it??

It's your rim. You could have brought them a car with no rim..(i.e. a spare tire) and left your rim at home....what would they do then? Charge you an extra 30 dollars for nothing?

It sounds like they want to keep it for its recylcing value or maybe they think they can fix it or resell it.

Anyone know what else I can check or do to get the heating working on a Renault 19?

As with any repair (on a car, house, appliance, etc.) you have the right to keep whatever parts were replaced. The only exceptions I can think of where you may have to pay extra to keep the part are things like a new battery...the garage has to pay a deposit on the battery core and they get that deposit back when the turn in the old battery.

Another example is if you get a new set of brake shoes/pads. The garage can get a little money back if they return the cores.

However, if this were the case with your rim, they should have shown the FULL PRICE for the rim, MINUS the discount on the receipt they gave you. If they didn't do this, then you have the right to get your rim back. The core discount MUST be on the receipt.

how much would it cost for a reconditioned engine for a fiesta car 1.1?

maybe, it depends if theyre discounting the new rim becasue theyre sending the old one back to get refurbished or something. if your new rim was discounted than yes they do. if not then they are probably just trying to screw you out of a little trim.

Where is the belt tensioner on a 02 Ford Focus?

you should not pay additonal money ever to have your used parts returned to you . i am not sure but it may even be law where you are that the mechanic do this if you ask .
i have asked to see my old parts its a good idea just to be sure that they are even replacing parts or just saying they do ,.
you can also take the junk parts home they are yours . the only way i can see there being a fee to keep a part is if there is a trade in . that happens say for a water pump a rebuilt one from a factory cost say 25 with trade in and 35 with out . that is ok.
i can tell you that there are no trade ins on used rims.

should i let him waste money on a exhaust system on his new ute?

Core charge, not coarse charge. And yes they do. To keep prices low, you turn in the old part so they can repair or rebuild it. You want to keep the old part, fine, but pay the core charge.

RAV4 1998, engine light is on, what is going on...?

It is called a core charge not a coarse charge. They only have the right to charge a core charge if the part you bought is a used or rebuilt, reconditioned part. If the part you are buying is BRAND NEW then they can not charge you a core charge. This is the general rule, However it varies by the item. Rims DO NOT need a core charge if the wheel purchased is new. They want your old one so they can rebuild it and resell it or if it is not rebuildable then they will sell it for scrap metal. Car batteries always have a core charge.
