I have a 1973 Super bettle that wont start any more, the oil is thins and smells like gasoline. Any ideas on waht would cause that so I can have it fixed/

sounds like you may have a leak thats leting gas into your oil, I would take it to a volkswagan dealer, or call them and get an their point of view.. You never know this could be dangerous.fuel injector might not be fuctinoning properly, could have a band fuel pump, busted head gaskets.
your plugs are fowled with gas and you more than likely have a choke problem that is not helping. i would change the oil change the plugs and have the carb looked at. if you where smart you would also change coil and plug wires too,
