The design of its apex seals (equivalent to a piston ring in a 4 stroke) causes it to be EXTREMELY sensitive to pinging and detonation, any detonation will ruin the seals requiring a rebuild. It is also relative to its output very "dirty" as far as its pollutants, this is caused primarily because it uses an extremely long and narrow combustion chamber which is not condusive to complete burning of the fuel and elimination of hydrocarbons. Also by design the light weight of the rotating assembly and its lack of reciprocal motion causes the engine to produce relatively low torque given its fuel consumption and horsepower, they have to be revved up to make power.More Questions & Answers ...
