Different air filter for car??

Hi there,

Is it possible to "clean" engine oil off a driveway?


I have a 1994 Acura Integra. It was salvaged and rebuilt. I just bought a new air filter, it is a cirular type. I haven't open the air filter case to replace it yet but it appears to me that the case should have a rectangular shape air filter installed, not a circular one. But I bought the circular one because that's what the auto shop told me.

i have a lexus 95 es300 why does the check engine light come on?


Since the car was rebuilt, is it possible that they installed a different air filter case than the origional one?

will 33" tires fit on my 1989 bronco 2 without a body lift?

Also it depends on what auto shop you purchased the filter at..... but i just checked and according to the napa catalog a 94 filter should be round conical shaped..... BUT the 97 integra shows a flat almost rectangular with a tapered (kinda pointed) end to it (napa number 6062) but i would get the old one out and have the filter interchanged if possible

Yes, it's possible they may have put in an airbox for a different year Integra - or if you had a very creative rebuilder, the air cleaner may not even be from anything in the Honda or Acura lineup.

If you get the airbox open and find that there's an entirely different style filter in there from what the parts store sold you, see if you can measure the existing filter and take the measurements to the store. It's sometimes hard to find a cooperative clerk, but you can talk them into checking the measurements if you're presistant

Anything is possible when you are dealing with a vehicle that was rebuilt from a wreck.Your best bet is to remove the old air filter and actually see what it looks like before assuming that you got a wrong one,But if the one in the car is different than the one the parts store sold you take the wrong one and the original one back to the store and get the right one.Now for a question from me to you WHAT EVER POSSESSED YOU TO BUY A REBUILT WRECK IN THE FIRST PLACE. Don't you know that vehicles rebuilt from wrecks are never truly right again and you are going to be dealing with endless B.S. problems for as long as you own it and when you decide you want to sell it and get another vehicle this vehicles rebuilt wreck status will kill the resale value and make selling it at all very difficult.

Where's the best place to get my brakes checked?

All the answers given so far are good advise. My solution is to take out the old filter and search it carefully. There should be some numbers located on the rubber "sealing" ring surrounding the element. These numbers can be cross-checked at any parts store (where the help is some-what competent).
