My 1992 Ford Explorer (rebuilt engine with 70,000 on it) won't shift into drive or reverse after sitting for about 9 hours. My brother-in-law says that it is morning sickness. Any mechanics out there that can help answer the question of what is wrong with this *@$%#^ truck? It seems frozen until it warms up (it takes about 10 minutes until it does). Any help - please??

First check the transmission fluid. If it is ok, then have the transmission fluid serviced (filter change). If neither of these fix the problem you might have further tranny issues.

It isn't flowing correctly until it is warm so the filter is a likely suspect and is the cheapest thing to change. Most quick lube type places perform this service for 50-70 dollars
